Spicing Up the Bedroom With Essential Oils

My husband and I have been together for 20 years this year!!   I've spent a lot of Valentine’s Days with him… but I also have spent MANY Valentine’s Days alone because.... #militaryspouselife!!  He was deployed last year, and I am beyond thankful he's home with me this year so we can celebrate love and catch up on lost time!! ::wink wink::

Celebrating on your own this year?  Check out this blog post for some great pampering recipes to spoil yourself :  How to Celebrate Valentine's Day Even if Just for You.  (because girl, you deserve it!!!)

Alright, let's talk spicing up the bedroom using essential oils!  I know this topic can feel a little embarrassing  to talk about, but sexual health is a natural and very important part of our lives and relationships!  I have gotten so many questions on this topic over the years and it's so rewarding for me to hear the many success stories of how essential oils have helped to strengthen relationships, confidence, and intimacy!   There is an essential oil for everything -- read on to learn ways to spice up your bedroom and use essential oils to increase connection, libido, arousal, and intimacy naturally!

Essential oils are amazing aphrodisiacs!  Set the mood by diffusing oils that enhance Libido. Try Passion, Sandalwood, Cinnamon, Whisper or a combo of any of these oils.  This is my favorite blend:
3 drops of Sandalwood
2 drops of Ylang Ylang
1 drop of Cinnamon
1 drop of Jasmine
1 drop of Rose

Massages are a great way to feel connected and physically close to your partner - adding oils to a massage works to boost your libido and enhance arousal!  Women tend to need a little more stimulation and time to get things going so this makes for a fantastic "warm up".  Try these blends below:

2 drops Ylang Ylang
1 drop Sandalwood
1 drop Ginger
1 drop Wild Orange
Add to 2 T. of lotion or massage oil.  Apply to neck, spine, arms, and legs.

1/2 cup Organic Coconut Oil
2 drops Grapefruit
2 drops Spearmint
Combine in a small glass jar, massage over abdomen slowly with your fingertips.

Yes, essential oils make for fabulous lubricants!  We use coconut oil for the carrier oil and definitely recommend using edible carrier oils :)  I have two options below and both are fantastic to help everyone have a great time!

Option 1: Beautiful Spray.  Convenient and effective!  Also, edible.
Option 2:  Homemade 'Love Butter' Lubricant - Recipe is below:
1 cup Coconut Oil
5 drops Wild Orange
5 drops Ylang Ylang
Whip in Mixer till fluffy
Store in glass container
Other oils to try:  Cassia for warming, Peppermint for cooling, Sandalwood for endurance.

Warning:  Oil based products will QUICKLY weaken latex!!  So be careful if you are a "gift wrapper."

Disclosures:  Recommendations are with dōTERRA essential oils only.  Do what you are comfortable with, and use common sense especially with sensitive areas.  Proper dilution is absolutely necessary for sensitive areas.   Hot oils should always be diluted.  Always start with less essential oil, 1-2 drops per 2 tablespoons of carrier oil.  You can always add in more essential oil, but tingling can turn to a burning sensation real quick, so opt for the "less is more" option with all of these combos.  Ultimately, you are responsible for what you use on your own skin.  And again, oils and condoms do not mix so please be mindful of that!
